Second Street Road Construction Update

Dear LGSD Staff and Families,

We wanted to provide a brief update regarding the Second Street construction project near Central Elementary and La Grande High School.

We have received encouraging news from the City and the asphalt contractor. The current plan is to begin rock placement on Wednesday, August 26, with paving anticipated to be completed by Friday, August 28.

At this time, the project remains on schedule to be completed before the first day of school on Monday, August 31.

There may still be some minor impacts to staff preparation, athletics, and other school activities taking place during the week of August 24–28. We ask everyone to continue respecting all road closures, construction zones, and established detours while crews complete the work.

The City and School District will continue to monitor the project closely. If anything changes that could impact school transportation, parent drop-off and pick-up, or access to our schools, we will communicate those changes immediately and provide alternate routes as needed.

We appreciate the City, contractors, and crews working hard to complete this project before school begins, and we greatly appreciate the patience and flexibility of our staff, students, families, and community.
