Greenwood Parents and Families,
We're nearing the end of February and students are engaged in lots of meaningful learning. I wanted to take a chance to share some neat things that are happening or will be happening soon.
OTEC Volunteers have been visiting our 4th and 5th grade to talk about STEM careers and lead students in exploratory learning. It has been a blast so far and we look forward to more visits. These visits will culminate on April 18 with our Greenwood STEM Night.
Enrichment for kids
We continue to provide great enrichment opportunities for students. One volunteer, a pediatrician from New York and friend of our staff, has hosted a 3rd grade book group at lunchtime over the last several weeks.
This year students (grades 2-5) have had an additional option for recess by attending enrichment club, where they can participate in a variety of fun activities like chess, coding, building with legos, etc.
We try to provide kids with regular cross-grade connection opportunities through our Reading Buddies. Seen here are 4th graders reading to kindergartners.
Students are very involved in Citizenship opportunities around the school, including snow shoveling!
3rd graders have been going to the pool each day this week for swimming lessons. This is paid by a grant from our local Soroptimist Club.
Struggling with good sleep? Here is a cool video I came across about the effects of light on the brain. Good for everyone to know!
If you need to pay school supply fees, please see Eva in the office.
Family Fun Night is coming up on March 7. More information to come.
Our next PTS Meeting is March 19 at 6:00.
